Obama Offers Scholarship Aid to Moms for Higher Education

Life as a single mother is not easy. Working multiple jobs to make ends meet, while also worrying about the welfare of your children can be a lot to handle. President Barack Obama wants to help these women by providing funding to them to go back to college, so that they can live and provide a better life for their family. This is not a loan but a grant, so it does not have to be paid back.

Since money is tight, going back to school is most likely not high on the priority list for working, single moms. But Obama thinks it should be important to them, because it can provide a better quality of life. The Pell grant is now set at more than $5,000, which has been increased since Obama was put into office. The grant can be used for education-related expenses. Working moms qualify, but need to apply to be considered for the grant. Eligibility requirements include being an American citizen, female and over the age of 18.

If you apply for the Pell grant and find you do not qualify, there is other aid available for moms who want to go back to school. Some grants even give you more funding than the Pell grant so it is worth it to look into these other opportunities to help with education. Many scholarships can be applied for online, which is convenient for those stay-at-home moms. Some grants are aimed at people in certain situations, including mothers who want to go back to school. This could be the start of your future that you always wanted.
